RUBAGA – Former Democratic Party leader and Presidential candidate Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere collapsed on Sunday morning during a church service at Rubaga Cathedral.

Details to the cause of the collapse of the elderly politician are still scanty.

Mr Ssemwogerere fell down from his seat to the shock of the congregation.

He was carried out and rushed to hospital for treatment.

This happened as the church is celebrating its 52nd anniversary since creation of Kampala Archdiocese.

Ssemwogerere contested for the country’s Presidency in 1996 and  lost to current President Yoweri Museveni.

He has since retired from active politics.
