MBARARA- Political leaders, public servants and the business community in the newly established town councils have been advised to unite and accept to work as a team together with the residents to spearhead improved developments on approved physical plans with enhanced standards of sanitation and hygiene for a better living.

The secretary for finance Mbarara district Mr. Brazil Bataringaya gave the advice while representing the Mbarara district chairperson Capt.

JB Tumusiime at the official launching ceremony of keeping Rubindi-Ruhumba town council clean campaign at Rubindi sub-county playground on October 25, 2018.

The colorful function that was joined by school children from tertiary secondary and primary schools was witnessed by the chairperson Rubindi sub-county and town council Timothy Bahebwa Zikaire,  town clerk Ms.Edith Tubenawe, the sub-county chief Rubindi Mr. Thursday Nathan and staff of town council and sub-county.

Bataringaya explained that the former Mbarara district local council leaders didn’t have vision of developing up growing trading centers because of being selfish and considering the local revenue that was being generated from local markets as source of their survival which he said it undermined development and quality service delivery.

He clarified with the new Mbarara district local council lead by Capt. JB Tumusiime found it wise as leaders who are working as a team and decided to demand from central government to establish five town council now which comprise of Mwizi-Kabura, Nyeihanga-Buteraniro,

Rweibogo-Kibingo, Bwizibwera –Rutooma and Rubindi- Ruhumba which are operational.

He directed the town clerk and other stakeholders in the management of Rubindi-Ruhumba town council to follow the low diligently and ensure they identify a safe area where to dump garbage to over littering the town and that every business area must have dust container to collect garbage.

He said having been granted town council status no more grazing of livestock like cows, goats, pigs, and sheep in the area except to only those who are practicing zero grazing.

Bataringaya advised all those who intend to start new construction to first obtain approved building plans which must be within the approved physical plan structure and those who build long ago to do also process and get approved building plans to avoid future challenges.
