PARLIAMENT – Mbale Municipality MP, Connie Nakayenze has said that her life is in danger.

Nakayenze told Parliament that she has been trailed by unknown persons in and around Kampala over the past week. She said she lives in fear and is not able to conduct her work normally but that she has recorded a statement with Police in Seeta.

“Hon. Speaker, of recent, I have been seeing unclear people following me wherever I go. On Thursday, I noticed it and decided to switch direction but found the same people in Mukono. Now I and my children live in abject fear,” Nakayenze said.

Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda said that the House needs to be briefed on whether the President has responded to a letter from the Speaker on the alleged torture of MPs. Adding that like Hon. Nakayenze, they all feel insecure.

The state minister for Internal Affairs, Mario Obiga Kania called on MPs to report any suspicious persons to Police.
