PALLISA– Police in Pallisa District have arrested three brothers on allegations of killing their father over land disputes.

The suspects, all residents of Kagoli parish in Pallisa Sub County reportedly combined and murdered 60 year old Dama Kalisa, on Monday night and dumped his body in Amusiat swamp.

The community liaison officer Calvin Opule has confirmed the incident.

Opule, said the preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased and his children had had a long standing dispute over a piece of land.

The deceased’s body has been taken to Pallisa hospital for postmortem before police handed it over to the relatives for burial.

There has been rampant land complaints received from the public relating to land.

These complaints, reported to numerous offices relate to land grabbing, delayed transactions and unfair treatment of genuine land owners, tenants and other land users.

President Yoweri Museveni constituted a commission of inquiry into land acquisition, land administration, land management and land registration in Uganda headed by Lady Justice Bamugemereire.
