KAMPALA – Lillian Rukundo 23, a student of Mass Communication at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono has been convicted upon her own plea of guilt for producing and broadcasting a pornographic video.

Ms Rukundo, a daughter to a UPDF soldier Maj. Muhwezi Mugyenyi appeared before Buganda Road under the Utilities and Wildlife Court Chief Magistrate Ms Mary Babirye to have her charges formally read to her.

She pleaded guilty to eight charges which included producing and broadcasting pornographic video contrary to section 13(1) and (2) of the Anti- Pornography Act 2014.

Ms Babirye remanded Rukundo to Luzira Prison until Friday this week when court will have a chance to watch her uploaded videos and photos before handing down its sentence.

“We want to secure a right environment to watch this video and the journalists will be restricted so that this court does not commit the same offence of showing what the Lord has not allowed them to see,” Ms Babirye ruled.

Prosecution states that Rukundo in the year 2017 at Jordan Courts Hostel, Mukono district produced a video of herself masturbating while pushing her finger in and out of her vagina in a highly graphic, vivid, explicit and offensive/noxious manner intended to arouse the sexual feelings of whoever may happen to see it.

It is further stated that Rukundo paused for and took a picture of her naked self from the breasts down to the knees in a highly graphic, vivid, explicit and offensive/noxious manner intended to arouse the sexual feelings of whoever may happen to see it, to a friend on facebook account called Ian Lon.

Last week the same court charged and remanded a renowned blogger Kato Ashiraf alias Ashburg Katto over allegedly broadcasting Rukundo’s pornographic video on the social media. However he denied all charges against him.

Prosecution states that Kato on May 24, 2018 in Kampala in the Kampala district, broadcasted on the social media a picture of Rukundo depicting her naked self from the breasts down to the knees in a highly graphic, vivid, explicit and offensive/noxious manner intended to arouse the sexual feelings of whoever may happen to see it.

Rukundo’s lack run out a month ago when a whistle blower tipped the Anti-pornographic committee that has just been inaugurated by the Ethics and Integrity minister Fr. Simon Lokodo.
According to the law, Rukundo is liable to a ten years imprisonment term or to be sentenced to pay a Court fine.
