KAMPALA – Nine people who are charged with the kidnap and murder of Susan Magara have been sent back to Luzira.
This was after state prosecutor Patricia Cingitho informed grade one magistrate Robert Mukanza that police inquiries into the matter are still on-going and therefore ample time should be accorded to police to wind up investigations and have the suspects committed to High court for Trial.
The suspects include ; an Imam of Usafi mosque Mahad Kasalita , 2 boda-boda riders Yusuf Lubega and Muzamiru Ssali , hawkers ; Hussein Wasswa , a teacher Hajara Nakandi and businessmen ; Abubaker Kyewolwa, Hassan Kato Miiro and Ismail Bukenya and the recently charged suspect ; Musa Abbas Buwembo .
The suspects have however raised concerns before court about their relatives who include wives, sisters and children whom they claim were arrested but their where about cannot be traced.
The magistrate has however advised them to seek services of an advocate who will raise their concerns before the High Court that is seized with jurisdiction to determine them.
The suspects face two capital offenses of Kidnap and murder of Susan Magara between February 7 and 27, 2018.
Prosecution states that the 9 suspects and others still at large on February 7, 2018 kidnapped Magara with intent to procure a ransom or benefit from her liberation from the danger of being murdered before going ahead to end her life on the Feb 27, 2018 at Kigo in Wakiso district.
They have been ordered to return to court on the July 12, 2018 as an arrest warrant against another key suspect Patrick Kasaija alias Pato who is believed to be in South Africa is extended.
