Kanyike in court on Wednesday.

Mwanga II Magistrates Court has remanded a man to Luzira prison for putting broken glasses in his wife’s food and water.

According to the court documents Rose Nasenjje a resident of Kigwana zone in Busega, a Kampala suburb, accused Dan Kanyike her husband with whom they have spent 30 years, of coming back home drank causing harm to her by beating her daily, a habit she says he started in 2000.

Nasenjje says the first time her husband beat her, he accused her of being a prostitute and went as far as putting broken glass in her water and food.

“With a lot of violence which has been witnessed by so many people including their children, she decided to report the matter to Nateete police and a case of domestic violence was filed against the accused,” reads in part Nasenjje’s claim.

Kanyike denied putting broken glass in his wife’s food and water saying that he loved her so much and has been taking good care of her together with their children.

Court heard that investigations in the case were complete. The trial Grade one magistrate Mr Julius Mwesigye fixed the case for hearing on May 28.

He however asked Kanyike to talk to his wife before the trial begins and they should let him know the outcomes of the talks.
