Security Minister Elly Tumwine has said the government has equipped communities in certain parts of the country, especially Kampala Metropolitan and greater Masaka area, with policing skills.
Gen Tumwine was addressing journalists during a media briefing on the ministry achievements as part of celebrations of the NRM party manifesto week.
The minister added that government strengthened the capacity of criminal investigations through intelligence gathering, analysis and investigations.
During the first two years of this term of the NRM government, Gen Tumwine said the government established forensic and medico-legal services for scientific evidence-based investigations.
“We also enhanced collaboration between Interpol Uganda and other international Bureaus to efficiently and effectively manage trans-national and trans-border crimes,” Tumwine added.
Last Friday, the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda launched the manifesto week.
In assessing its achievements since it was elected two years ago, Rugunda said the NRM had so far registered 38 percent success.
