Court asks CMI to expedite investigations into senior police officers on remand

KAMPALA: The General Court Martial has ordered the Chieftancy of Millitary intelligence (CMI) to expedite investigations in cases against seven senior police officers who are facing charges of being in unlawful possession of ammunition.

Lead army prosecutor Maj. Rapheal Mugisha on Tuesday informed court that he didn’t summon any witnesses because CMI and asked for more time to carry out investigations. inquiries.

The officers, including the former commandant of the Special investigations unit Nixon Agasirwe are also charged with the kidnap of three Rwandan nationals whom they allegedly deported to their country without their consent.

The court martial chaired by General Andrew Gutti sent the officers back on remand at Makindye Military Police Barracks and Luzira prison where they have been since their arrest in Septmeber last year .
