Outspoken police commander Muhammad Kirumira has received temporary reprieve after the police disciplinary court acquitted him of irregular conduct.
Police prosecutor Katherine Kusemererwa said there was no evidence to pin the former Buyende District Police Commander over the charges.
This is after a witness, Mr Milton Tumusiime, a journalist, refused to testify against Mr Kirumira.
Subsequently, the court chairman, Mr Denis Odongpiny, dropped the charges over lack of witnesses.
However, Mr Kirumira, who is detained at Nalufenya in Jinja District, still faces charges of neglect of duty and corruption practices.
