Regional Director of Africa Programme
Salary: £57,070 – £59,959 (excellent benefits: 10% non-contributory pension, 25 days annual leave plus UK public holidays, gym benefit, season ticket loan, cycle scheme)

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic peacebuilder with years of experience working in Africa, a passion for peace and a commitment to deliver tangible change in often challenging situations.
You will be a key leader at International Alert, one of the world’s largest and most respected peacebuilding organisations with a 30-year track record.
Reporting to the Director of Programmes, this position is for an experienced manager with a passion for innovation, combined with strong peacebuilding knowledge and experience working in Africa, to lead all our African peacebuilding programmes.
You will lead over 80 staff across 5 countries and in London, while collaborating closely with teams in other regions and with areas of expertise from gender to communications. You will be joining International Alert at an exciting time as we start to implement our ambitious new strategy.
As a senior staff member, you will be expected to help shape how Alert will deliver the strategy, including possible changes to the way we work. Good at networking, you will be key to helping develop our new strategic priorities within our African work including on influencing, partnerships and dialogue.
You will help ensure that we connect the different levels of our work, from the grassroots to the corridors of power, feeding into wider peacebuilding initiatives and formal peace processes. We are seeking a candidate with strong peacebuilding expertise combined with excellent management and fundraising skills.
Managing a budget of over £8 million currently, you will have experience to lead the design of programmes and secure funds from donors, as well as to bid for commercial contracts and consultancies. You will be an experienced manager, strategic thinker, with a high degree of emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, and strong analytical capacity.
