KAMPALA – The wait is over for who is who between Ugandan singers Queen Sheebah Karungi and Cindy Sanyu alias “The King Herself” as Victoria University stages a productive Musical Battle between the two singers.
The revelation was made by the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Muganga noting that “this is one of the sure ways, we will, Future-Proof Education through Art.”
Addressing a presser on Tuesday at University hall, Dr. Muganga noted that they decided to individually contact the artists after realizing their beefs in the media.
“Each of them, on their own terms, have accepted the challenge,” revealing that the much-anticipated Musical Battle will be held on September 15, 2023, at Kololo Airstrip. This will also be considered the Yolo Festival.
Dr. Muganga noted that the Musical Battle will be held a day after the University Graduation Ceremony and the Vusi MasterClass at Kololo Airstrip on September 14, 2023.
The university is also organizing an Inspirational and Business MasterClass which will run on the same day, night after the Graduation, at Kololo Airstrip. The Vusi Thembekywayo MasterClass is themed “Adapt or Penish: Innovate for Survival,” which is expected to host 2,000 participants.
“We envision this MasterClass as an opportunity for participants to gain invaluable insights from an inspirational leader like Vusi Thembekywayo and equip themselves with the necessary skills to adapt and innovate in an ever-changing world.”
Prof added that, “We are eager to bring together art, education, and business in a harmonious symphony that will shape the future our nation. Through collaborations like the proposed Musical Battle, Graduation Ceremony, and MasterClass, we can create a dynamic ecosystem that empowers individuals to thrive and contribute to the betterment of our society.”
