American singer Ginuwine live in Kampala

KAMPALA- American singer Elgin Baylor Lumpkin commonly known as Ginuwine is coming to Uganda, organisers confirmed.

TShaka Mayanja, the Soul Safari show organiser and co-founder while addressing the media during the ‘Johnnie Walker Soul Safari’ press briefing held at Club Guvnor on Friday said that Ginuwine is consistent enough to headline the event.

“Ginuwine has pedigree and consistency, which is the criteria we use to choose artists,” he said, adding that, “he’s coming with a full band and dancers.”

The 47-year-old star who will be performing in Uganda for the first time at ‘Johnnie Walker Soul Safari’ show which will take place on Saturday, December 1 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

This comes after the Johnnie Walker Jazz and Soul Safari was this year split into two separate events, with the jazz show preceding the Soul Safari.

“As one of the most iconic global brands, Johnnie Walker is excited to be at the centre of giving Ugandans this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch him live in concert,” said Roger Agamba, IPS and Reserve Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited.

The Washington born pop and R&B singer will among other Ugandan musicians perform with Naava Grey and Kenneth Mugabi.

Sonia Karamagi Kasagga, the Stanbic Bank Marketing Manager said during the presser that whoever buys a ticket through VISA will earn a discount.

Tickets are on sale at 100k (80K when purchased using VISA card).

Johnnie Walker which was introduced in 1820 is a brand of Scotch whisky now owned by Diageo that originated in the Scottish town of Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. The brand was first established by grocer John Walker.

The company has other products like Buchanan’s, Chivas Regal, Cutty Sark, and Dewar.
