ADJUMANI-The second edition of Miss Madi grand finale is set for this Saturday, July 7 at Mayor’s Garden in Adjumani. This year’s edition runs under the theme: Sex Based Gender Violence.
This crowns a series of activities including the boot camp, unveiling ceremony, trainings, media tours and charity works.
Madi is a tribe in the West Nile region in the districts of Moyo and Adjumani and the region hosts the highest number of refugees in the country. The refugees face several challenges like poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and sex based gender violence among others.
Dorothy Chandia, Uganda’s representative at the 2015 Miss Model World finals in China is the brain behind the pageant. Chandia is the ambassador for positive change in the local community.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony at Penthouse Moyo, Chandia promised a wholesome experience of glitz, glamour, pomp and entertainment.
“I am so proud of the team and organisation for this year’s event. We can’t wait to host you all at Mayor’s Garden, Adjumani”, she said.
The winner of the inaugural contest, Brenda Abio, said that she is elated to witness the transition.
“Nothing good comes easy. I’m so happy to be part of this life changing opportunity. I am so proud to have won the crown and it changed my social, private and public life. I wish all the ten contestants the best of luck”, she stated.
The event will be spiced by entertainment from artistes from the region.
Entrance will be Shs10, 000 for ordinary tickets, Shs20, 000 VIP and a table of five at Shs250, 000.
