KAMPALA – Music Legends Joseph Mayanja (Chameleone), big size Moses Ssali (Bebe Cool) and 24 other artists have been the talk of social media for the past week after their maiden trip to Gulu.

The musicians under the new Uganda Superstars Musicians Association asked Gen Salim Saleh to give them Shs9.4 billion as stimulus package for the COVID-19 effects on the music industry.

In a document that has been seen by this website, the artistes that were led by the association president Jose Chameleone told the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Chief that they need the stimulus to cover up for their individual losses registered as a result of the closure of music business due to Covid-19.

“It is our request that this issue is addressed with urgent concern to save the Uganda Music Industry for our members are crucial stakeholders,” said.

Chameleone, the president of the new association which so far has 26 members.

According to the document, among the would be beneficiaries include Chameleone who wants to be given Shs800m, Pallaso Shs821m, David Lutalo Shs420m, Bebe Cool Shs670m, Winnie Nwagi Shs380m and Azawi Shs250m.

Also, surprising addition to the list is the National Unity Platform activist, Gerard Kiweewa who claims compensation of Shs18m, and Charlse Ssekyewa who wants Shs285million in compensation.

Music promoter Bajjo has described Chameleone as king of beggars who did a disservice to himself and the brand he stands for.

According to the motor-mouthed promoter says Chameleone didn’t have to stoop that low in the name of getting just Shs20m under the United Super Stars Association that he leads.

A shocking stimulus budget from the United Superstars Association, a faction that broke away from UMA led by singer Jose Chameleone while seeking for financial relief from the Chief Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation, Gen Salim Saleh has really proved beyond doubt that indeed Gulu is currently heaven for local artistes.

Artistes under the new United Superstars Association, a faction that broke away from UMA have for the past weeks been attacked on social media for dining with a Military 4-star General, Salim Saleh in Gulu begging for money to the extent of some allegedly clashing for it.
