KAMPALA – Veteran journalist-turned NRM mobiliser Abbey Ssewakiryanga, alias Basajja Mivule, has shown off a new state of the art vehicle he reportedly acquired from President Museveni.
Mivule, who crossed from National Unity Platform to the ruling NRM, showed off the new wheels on Monday, 22 February 2021. He was seen embarking from the Hilux double cabin pickup registration number UBJ 603K.
Sources close to State House said the car was a gift from the President for doing good mobilisation work for the NRM candidate in the recently concluded General Election.
Shortly after crossing to NRM, Mivule had asked President Museveni to give him a car, saying that he would inspire the youth into working in the informal sector instead of crying of unemployment.
Basajja Mivule’s fortunes changed days after his arrest in July 2020 following a video in which he accused the government led by President Museveni of nepotism.
He eventually crossed to the ruling party and started a verbal tirade against Bobi Wine and his supporters.
