KAMPALA – Earlier this week, defiant people power supporter and city events promoter Andrew Mukasa alias Bajjo Events quit People Power, a party he had for long been advocating and subscribing to.

Bajjo who was well known for attacking the government and abusing non People Power supporters jumped out of the ship even before his Principal Robert Kyagulanyi captured power.

In a video that went viral, Bajjo branded the NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu as a joke and accused him of hoodwinking Ugandans.

He claimed that a person who wants to lead Uganda cannot behave the way Kyagulanyi does.

Bajjo said he was awakening Ugandans who believe that Bobi Wine can lead them to the Promised Land claiming he will disappear with the fundraising money.

“A person who wants to lead Uganda cannot act like Bobi Wine. A leader must love his enemies, you cannot change Uganda from Kamwokya meetings. Bobi Wine is a Facebook president not for Ugandans on the ground. The first time I doubted his ability, he was in Lira and asked the International Community where you are? On Facebook. Bajjo claimed.

The events promoter who was a renowned critic of President Museveni further noted that National Unity platform (NUP) leader, Bobi Wine is using the party to get money from the government and the European countries.

Bajjo claimed that leaders of the opposition are greedy, selfish and lack an agenda to unseat Museveni.

“The opposition is a business; Bobi Wine is earning money by opposing Museveni while lying to Ugandans about change. Ugandans will soon realize that they are being lied to. I can’t work with such people,” he said.

“I swear to you, no one will unseat president Museveni. I am sure People Power supporters will abuse me that I have been paid but they will finally understand the truth,” he added

Bajjo who hopes to scoop the ministerial role of Integrity and culture from President Museveni further accused the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine of being a hypocrite who has abandoned most of his close associates in the struggle.

Bajjo said he has been there for Bobi Wine through thick and thin but he is so disappointed that he has decided to turn his back on him to the extent of refusing to pick his calls.

He revealed that he has decided to give up on politics so that he concentrates on helping poor Ugandans.

“I’m a very intelligent man, if I join NRM now, Museveni will automatically give me a job. Just imagine if Bajjo, Abtex, Full Figure and Basajja Mivule join hands we can bring Uganda down. But for now, I’m going to be helping poor Ugandans to better their lives,” he said.

However, young NUP luminary Tamale Mirundi Jr, son to renowned political commentator and former presidential press secretary Joseph Tamale Mirundi believes defectors like Bajjo have all along been self-seekers who masquerade to be proponents of Bobi Wine yet in actual sense they are setting themselves a political bargain.

“Bajjo’s defection is not a surprise to us. We have known him right from day one, the stunts he has been creating and the fake arrests all depict the games he has been playing for regime attention,” Tamale said.

He added that people like Bajjo position themselves close to Bobi Wine because they know it is the only way to earn quick money from Museveni.

“Bobi is very busy in strategic meetings and discussions of how to liberate this country. Why would he pick a call from Bajjo in such a strategic meeting? Bajjo has nothing sensible to say,” he said.

Eddy Sendi, a renowned music analyst in the entertainment industry insists that National Unity Platform is better off without Bajjo

“There is nothing wrong with Bajjo, from time immemorial, I refused to accept and I knew that he is a National Resistance Movement person. Bajjo is an employee of president Museveni,”Sendi shared, adding that the only relevant person in NUP or People Power is Bobi Wine and the rest are pillars. So anyone can drop off the car but it continues moving.

Bajjo’s outburst came days after renowned government critic and seasoned journalist Basajja Mivule denounced people power and joined president Museveni.

As Ugandans gear towards 2021 general elections, Bobi Wine has lost people close to him and his ‘struggle’ like Ashburg Kato, Full Figure and now Basajja Mivule and Bajjo to president Museveni’s camp.

Several sources however reveal that Bajjo has been one of the regime’s implants into the People Power Movement with a mission to collect high profile content and disclose it to the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) in exchange for money and other luxuries.

It is also believed that he began his mission way back in 2019 when he would stage stunts and arts with the aim of elevating his bargain.
