KAMPALA – The celebrated ‘King Herself’ Cinderella Sanyu has beaten fellow singer Mary Bata to assume the post of the Vice President for the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA).

A few months ago, Sophie Gombya resigned from the UMA presidency to pursue her political ambitions dream that she is believed to have been nursing for some time.

The then vice president, Ykee Benda assumed the leadership of the association leaving the position of vice president vacant.

According to Ykee Benda, the president of the Uganda Musicians Association, Cindy has been a strong advocate of the industry who also holds the needs and concerns of the artists at heart.

“Cindy is a fighter and a very strong person. I remember she was among the people that fought for artistes during the Save Uganda Music campaign,” he revealed.

Ykee Benda also said that he is confident that together with Cindy who was voted to this position by other artists they will be able to fight the newly introduced regulations against musicians.

“There has been a vacant spot for Vice President and since the outgoing president was female and her vice a man, we decided to switch the roles since the president is a man this time round. Cindy was standing against Mary Bata who she beat to it,” The Mpaka Records CEO revealed.

Ykee revealed that they are to organize a proper ceremony to congratulate and present Cindy Sanyu as the Vice President of UMA to the public and the rest of the artistes’ fraternity.
