KAMPALA —Sudhir Ruparelia’s heir apparent Rajiv surpised many on Monday morning when he turned up at court on a motorcycle.

Mr. Rajiv, who happens to be Managing Director of his father’s vast empire the Ruparelia Group was at court to support his father in the ruling which the businessman won.

Rajiv was pictured arriving at court on a motorbike, otherwise know in Uganda as bodaboda to the surprise of the onlookers.

The young tycoon however looked unbothered as he joined the Family lawyers and a few friends like Balam Barugahaara to wait for the judgement that was delivered in summary.

The Court of Appeal threw out an application in which Bank of Uganda (BoU) contested the ruling of the lower court.

The court upheld the judgment of Commercial Court in an application filed by BoU seeking a refund of UGX 397 billion from Sudhir which he allegedly pulled out from Crane Bank.

Deputy Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo led the panel that included Justices Cheborion Barishaki and Steven Musota.
