KAMPALA- Celebrities in different African countries have started a campaign dubbed #AfricaWillOvercome to call for unity and fight against COVID-19.

The objective of the campaign is to change the behavior of the people across Africa to improve their sanitation practices such as hand washing, be mindful of social distance or stay home to reduce the spread of the virus.

The campaign features celebrities such as Martha Kay, Alex Muhangi, Kenya’s Cynthia Nyamai, and Betty Kyalo among others.

Tactics for the campaign:

The African celebrities align with the cause and carry the message to their followers.

They also share multimedia content on social media using the hashtag #AfricaWillOvercome.

They engage with media partners to amplify the message, develop flyers, infographics and other educational materials to break down public health directives into relatable and engaging demonstrations for the public.

Working in coordination with the different country health ministries and other relevant authorities to ensure messaging is credible and up-to-date, it is hoped the campaign will have a big impact on observing the guidelines necessary to halt the spread of Coronavirus.

The campaign is already vibrating among the youths from around Africa and the celebrities have been commended for lending their voice to this cause.

The coronavirus, COVID-19 is affecting 210 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances.
