KAMPALA – American Christian worship leader, singer and songwriter Dr Ron Kenoly is in Kampala ahead of his scheduled performance on September 1.
He was invited and will be hosted by Prophet Elvis Mbonye at Zoe grounds in Lugogo.
Dr Ron Kenoly was born to Edith Kenoly on December 6, 1944.
After graduating from High school, Kenoly ventured out to Hollywood, California and when plans to make it big in the city fell through, he joined the United States air force in 1965.
During this time, he started his music, met and married his wife of 42 years Tavita Kenoly who bore him three sons.
Kenoly holds several degrees including a music degree from AlamedaCollege, a master of Divinity from Faith Bible College and a Doctorate of Ministry in Sacred music from Friends International Christian University.
The ex-R&B singer and former group member of The Mellow Fellows later achieved his success in 1992 when “Lift Him Up” became the fastest selling worship album. This was followed by “Welcome Home” that became the Billboard’s Top contemporary worship music album and “Praise and Worship Album” that won a Gospel Music Association Dove Award in 1997.
Due to his fame and the fact that he was ordained and installed as a Music Pastor, Churches started inviting him all over the world not only to lead praise and worship but to also help them develop their music departments. As a result he was shortly named the Ambassador of music at Jubilee Christian Center.
Besides his music career, the singer has also written several books on Praise and Worship thus fulfilling his mission “to create an environment for the manifest presence of God”.
