MTN Chief Executive Officer Wim Vanhelleputte speaks to media as MTN Uganda has taken the lead in the industry by introducing ‘Freedom Bundles’, whose validity isn’t restricted by time or date of expiry (PHOTO/Courtesy).

KAMPALA – MTN Uganda on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, introduced data bundles that will enable customers to enjoy MBs that never expire.

Dubbed ‘MTNFreedom’ customers will simply dial *150*7# to get started on the bundle. The bundles go for 100, 1,000 and 10,000 UGx.

Speaking at the launch of the offer, MTN Chief Executive Officer Wim Vanhelleputte said: “It is my honour to announce the new MTN Freedom Data bundles. For the first time Internet users are enjoying MBs that never expire. This what MTN has always worked towards, offering freedom to our internet users.”

“The introduction of Freedom bundles means that our data customers can load and use a data bundle for as long as they have MBs, without worrying about expiry,” he added.

The bundles are available to MTN data customers alongside the other existing data bundles, so customers can choose to load a bundle that suits their needs and budget.

The package has created a lot of excitement from Ugandans.

Faiza salima tweeted: “Before I sleep, I think this could mean the end of OTT.”

Ian M. Oswald said: “Someone once tweeted, things of MBs expiring should stay in 2019. @MTNUg heard you. Why should your MBs that you bought with your money expire?”

Victoria tweeted:  “When MTN introduced the #MTNFreedom internet bundles, they knew that there is someone out there that will definitely gain from the offers! There are people that need data but don’t use it at fast rates so 1GB that won’t expire means money won’t be wasted.”

@Mootoomber: “Seriously, MTN wants to increase my chances of going to hell for watching bad manners. They’ve brought new #MTNInternet bundles which don’t expire, during my time of singleness.”

Norman Angel tweeted: “An impressive initiative by @mtnug towards data freedom introducing mobile data bundles that never expire. First of its kind for mobile subscribers in Uganda.”
