KAMPALA – Marking five years of successful operations in Uganda, Africell this week launched a new commercial direction dubbed ‘New Chapter’.

The new strategy builds on Africell’s achievements in Uganda to date: including the delivery of a new generation of affordable communication solutions, a reputation for outstanding customer service, and improved data quality on 3G & 4G networks.

The New Chapter also stays true to Africell’s continued commitment to supporting community welfare.

While addressing the press at the company headquarters at Clement Hill, Africell Holding chairman and CEO Mr. Ziad Dalloul said the New Chapter places the customers at the heart of Africell’s focus.

“As a digital company, Africell provides a link between yesterday and tomorrow. In Uganda, our network gives everyone the freedom to be and do what they want. Ugandans of all generations and from all walks of life can shine with the powerful tools Africell offers. We listened to the young generation, and we are committed to helping them shape the best future possible,” he said.

According to Mr Ziad, the strategic priorities include enhancing the customer experience by personalizing service and customizing offers, as well as increasing Africell’s commercial and social relevance by undertaking a wave of new corporate social responsibility initiatives – especially in the Education and Security Sectors.

Africell plans to increase its involvement in technology incubation, in order to stimulate a more active Ugandan technology sector.

“Uganda boasts an abundance of talented and hardworking people. The country’s youth have much to offer and, with the right opportunities, they can help lead economic development in Africa and beyond. As part of the New Chapter, Africell is committed to helping unlock this potential. We will provide professional tools and work experience opportunities. For example, through a signature internship program, Africell will help bright students acquire skills required for future success,”said Ziad.

He added that, “The New Chapter is fully aligned with Uganda’s national ‘Vision 2040’.

Through partnerships with government and local communities, and by continuing to deliver outstanding service and technology, Africell will help Uganda realize the ICT aspirations built into Vision 2040.”
