MUKONO – The Member of Parliament (MP) Mukono Municipal Hon. Betty Nambooze has asked why industrial owners and other entrepreneurs are not employing the youths in communities where these businesses are located.

She made these remarks during a business meeting at Collins Hotel Mukono on Friday, April 5 with business owners in the district after several young people had made complaints to her about this situation.

Ms. Namboole said that if people don’t employ the youths in their communities, their businesses will not be safe because some young people tend to engage themselves in criminal activities like robbery as a result of unemployment.

She urged people to employ others even as shamba boys or drivers.

“I am going to report my fellow parliamentarians who drive themselves instead of employing others to the Speaker of Parliament, ” Ms. Namboole said.

She also advised those who have maids to always give them leave and other work benefits like any other job.

She said: “If you pretend to employ people, they will also pretend to work for you.”

She, however, urged the youth to be innovative and create their own jobs as they wait to get the jobs that they studied for if they want to fight the problem of unemployment.
