Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho played his cards close to his chest when asked about any incoming January transfers.
He said: “I’m not expecting [any business], no,” Mourinho said before the 3-0 Leeds United victory.
“Times are not easy and the club made a big effort in the summer to try to build a good squad.
“Honestly, if something good happens to us it’d be a big surprise for me.”
But the transfer rumour mill keeps churning and has thrown out these latest rumours.
Christian Eriksen
Mauricio Pochettino, the new Paris Saint-Germain boss, has been linked with one of his old players, Dele Alli.
The Guardian report that Spurs would be reluctant to let him go. However, with Pochettino installed at the helm of PSG, it is a move that is more likely to happen.
David Hytner, of the Guardian, has speculated that there could be a return for Eriksen, currently at Inter Milan. However, he downplayed this rumour suggesting it would be “a difficult deal to structure.”
Issa Diop
A surprising rumour circulates around West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop.
The Mirror (5th Jan; page 47) claim that the Hammers want £18 million for the 23-year-old.
Mourinho is keen to bolster his defensive options. Since the departure of Jan Vertonghen, Spurs have not replaced him.
Previously, Mourinho has described Diop as a ‘monster’, in his role of ‘dominating’ Paul Pogba back when the Portuguese was at Manchester United.
Demarai Gray
Demarai Gray’s contract expires at the end of this season. Tottenham are among a list of clubs that are interested in his signature, according to Portuguese publication Record via Sports Witness.
He will not sign a new contract with Leicester City. For most of the season he has been absent from matchday squads, making his only appearance for 18 minutes against Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old winger has made 169 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 13 goals and notching 17 assists.
Marcel Sabitzer
26-year-old Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has reportedly been on the Spurs radar since April.
Bild featured an interview with Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche.
He responded to rumours surrounding a potential move to Spurs: “He [Sabitzer] has made a great development.
“It goes without saying that other clubs also notice this.”
Despite an injury that ruled Sabitzer out for three weeks, the midfielder has scored three and has one assist in 10 Bundesliga appearances.
Sabitzer will be remembered well by Spurs fans. He scored twice as RB Leipzig triumphed 3-0 against the Lilywhites in the Champions League.
Nikola Milenkovic
Linked with another defender, Spurs are interested in signing 23-year-old Nikola Milenkovic according to Italian paper La Nazione, via the Express.
Milenkovic has started all 15 Serie A matches for Fiorentina. He has also scored two goals and set up another.
The ever-present defender and his team-mates have conceded 21 goals and sit fourteenth in Serie A.
Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the player, with the rumoured transfer value standing at £23 million.
