NAKASERO – President Yoweri Museveni has fulfilled his pledge to the Commonwealth Gold medalist Cheptegei Joshua Kiprui-rewarding him with a brand new double cabin Mitsubishi pick up.
This is in appreciation for his outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Games that took place in Gold Coast Queens Land in Australia in 2018.
Cheptegei won two Gold Medals at the sports tournament, one in the 10,000 meters marathon and the second in the 5,000 sprint.
State House Sports Officer Ms Norah Nassimbwa officiated at the handover ceremony of the vehicle at State House Nakasero.
“The car will help me enhance my training performance as it comes just 10 months to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. I intend to win another glory for the country,” – Cheptegei
Cheptegei early this month won men’s 10,000 metres at the ongoing world title in Doha.
Cheptegei also set a new record—timing the second fastest ever in the championship history of 26 minutes 48.6 seconds.
Cheptegei also became the first Ugandan to win the world title in that category, having grabbed a silver medal in 2017.
