Ugandan duo of Halimah Nakaayi and Winnie Nanyondo failed to progress to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics women’s 800m final after disappointing heats on Saturday.

Nakaayi who posted a time of 2:04:44 finished last in heat 3 that was won by Jamican Goule Natoya (1:59:57)

For Nanyondo, she was 5th in heat 1 as Keely Hongkinson won it with a time of 1:59:84.

The final of the 800m women race will take place on Tuesday 3rd August 2021.

Nanyondo still has the 1500m to try and secure a first-ever Olympics medal.

Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo won Uganda’s first medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics yesterday when they finished second and third respectively in the 10,000m race.
