KAMPALA – Ugandans have a rare opportunity to watch all Euro 2020 games at the most affordable price, and most importantly in the comfort of their living room, StarTimes – the tournament’s official broadcast partners, announced in Kampala on Monday.

StarTimes officials revealed that it would broadcast the games across all its platform i.e the decoder podium as well as the OTT.

The officials revealed further that their relay of the Euro 2020 games would not only be enjoyed in Uganda but across the African continent – following the acquisition of broadcasting rights.

The continental pay channel giants have pledged to air all the 51 games, live in HD across Sub-Saharan Africa, French and English.

“Football is the most followed sport in this country (Uganda), and we are excited to bring our customers the Euro 2020 competitions.

“All the 51 games will be (relayed) Live on Classic Bouquet for those using Antenna Decoder and those using Satellite technology – the games will be on Smart bouquet at a cost of Ugx 28,000 only a month or Ugx 3,000 a day,” revealed Isma Lule – the StarTimes – Head of Marketing during the launch in Kampala on May 10.

Lule noted further that non – StarTimes customers, had a chance to take advantage of their promotion to own a decoder at a give-away of Ugx39,000 for an Antenna while the price of full dish kit has been sliced to Ugx99,000in an offer that climaxes at the end of July 2021. The decoder comes with 1 month free of the highest bouquet, according Lule.

The opening match will see a much-improved Turkey side take on tournament sleeper of Italy in Rome, before the next seven out of eight days would host three matches on a daily basis in this tournament that goes through up to July 11, when a new champion will be crowned at the Wembley Stadium in London.

24 teams will face-off in one of the best of football’s showpiece in the world as four semifinalists of 2018 World cup, France, Croatia, England and Belgium, take part in addition to Euro 2016 title holder Portugal, as well as powerhouses Spain and Germany.

Euro 2016 finalists and 2018 World cup champion France are the favorites, along with England.

Title holders Portugal have been attempting to become less reliant on Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals ever since winning Euro 2016. The 36-year-old, is six international goals away from equaling former Iran striker Ali Daei’s world cup record of 109, but he was outscored over Portugal last three games by Liverpool’s Diogo Jota. If Jota and likes of Bruno Fernandes, Jao Felix and Andre Silva are able to score during the tournament and relieve Ronaldo from some pressure, Portugal will be a formidable contender to win Euro 2020.

Besides Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Croatia and even Denmark have the capacity to make life very difficult for their opponents.
