KITENDE – With the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season just around the corner, clubs continue shaping their squads.

On Monday, August 24, reigning UPL champions Vipers SC have announced the departure of 13 players.

The players that are leaving have either seen their contracts terminated by mutual consent or expired.

This was confirmed by the club via their official website.

“Vipers Sports Club has confirmed various players who are leaving the club on mutual consent as Coach Fred Kajoba shapes his squad in readiness for the upcoming season.” Reads part of the post on the Venoms’ website.

As earlier anticipated, Brian Nkuubi is part of the list of players that are leaving the club.

Nkuubi has been at the club since 2015 when he joined them from Kira Young.

He has been a squad member all this time but failed to tie down a regular slot in the starting team and it comes as no surprise that he is leaving.

Nkuubi is not the only one leaving St Mary’s stadium with Goalkeeper Derrick Ochan also part of the departing list.

Ochan still has two years left on his deal but as he searches for first team football, he has agreed to terminate his deal.

Left back Dan Birikwalira, Janjali Joseph, Dickens Okwir, Ibrahim Kiyemba and Duncan Seninde who have all been on loan-last season will also be leaving the club.

The others are Farouk Musisi, Tom Masiko, Steven Mukwala and Tito Okello, Fred Atuhwera as well as Baden Mujahid.
The Venoms are also expected to send out Brian Kalumba on loan although his destination is yet to be known.

Vipers has already acquired Disan Galiwango (Express), Ibrahim (Mbarara City), Jamil Kalisa (Bright Stars) and David Bagoole (Busoga United) to beef up the team ahead of a demanding season.

Last season, the Venoms finished top of the standings with 54 points, four ahead of second placed KCCA FC.
