KAMPALA – Reigning Uganda Premier League champions Vipers are set to complete the signing of Bright Stars FC midfielder Jamal Kaliisa.

The Venoms are understood to have agreed a deal that will see the former FUTSAL player join them in the next few days.

The signing of Kaliisa would be Vipers’ third this off season, following the capture of left back Disan Galiwango and midfielder Ibrahim Orit.

Kaliisa spent the last couple of seasons at the Mwerere based side and was also part of the Dream FC Futsal team at some point.

Last season, he managed just two league goals, helping the Stars fend off relegation.

If he indeed ends up at Vipers, he will link up with ex-boss Fred Kajoba who is currently the head coach of the four time UPL champions.

The Kitende based side is understood to be in the process of building a side that can compete in the CAF Champions League, a showpiece for which they qualified after winning last season’s league title.

The Venoms were crowned champions after finishing top of the standings with 54 points from 25 games.
