KAMPALA – Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) FC will feature in the Uganda Premier League for the first time in their history.

The Southern-Uganda based side are beneficiaries of the Federation of Uganda Football Association decision to end all league competitions.

The decision was announced on Wednesday, May 20, during a press conference held at FUFA House in Mengo.

“At least one club (Nyamityobora Football Club) having played 12 out of 16 matches (75%) of the FUFA Big League, Article 18 (c) of the FCR is applied and the table standings will be used to determine promotion and relegation. FUFA President Moses Magogo announced.

This comes after two months of no-football in the country due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, forcing the above action as there is no clear indication of when it (football) will return.

Army side UPDF FC have also been promoted to along with MYDA as the other group winners of the Big League.

In the playoffs, Kitara, Kataka, Kiboga Young and Ndejje University will square off for the third and final promotional spot.

Kitara will face Kataka while Kiboga takes on Ndejje with the winners of the contests contesting the final game to determine who gets promoted.

On the other end of the table, Kansai Plascon Football Club, New Villa Football Club, Dove Football Club (Rwenzori) and Saviours Football Club, Light Secondary School Football Club, Katwe United Football Club (Elgon) have all been relegated.
