Masaza Cup: Bulemezi names backroom staff as Gomba signs multiple-title winning custodian

Despite the continued Covid-19 crisis, teams continue preparing for the 2020 Masaza Cup.

This year’s edition is slatted to start in June and it remains to be seen whether it (kick-off) will be achieved.

As preparations continue, Bulemeezi have confirmed the other personnel that head coach Peter Mugerwa.

Kinene Yusuf will work as the first assistant coach while Ssemakula Eddy had been named as the second assistant.

For the goalkeeping department, Eddy Kaweesi is the man that will be in charge with Ali Gwaita the fitness coach.

The team manager is Omulangira Kimbugwe Medi while Makumbi Sulait is the technical director.

Abbey Yiga will be the team doctor as Patrick Bunnya executes the Kits Manager role. Brian Masembe is the media officer.

Bulemezi are the defending champions of the Masaza Cup.

Relatedly, goalkeeper Emmanuel Were Derrick has been signed by Gomba Lions.

Last year, Were featured for Ssingo who were eliminated at the quarter final round stage.

He has won the Masaza Cup championship on three separate occasions.

He won it twice with Ssingo , twice (2015 & 2018) and once at Buddu in 2016.

Were was part of the Uganda Christian University team which won the 2019 University Football League where he was named both the MVP and best goalkeeper.

Gomba are the record winners of the competition, having won it on four occassions (2004, 2009, 2014 & 2017).
