As they eye a maiden Masaza Cup title, Buwekula have stepped up their preparations for the 2020 tournament.

The 2012 runners ups have appointed Robert Kafeero also known as Kapeero as their head coach for the upcoming edition.

Kapeero who is the head coach of Regional League side Kajjansi United FC is most remembered for his side’s brilliant run in the 2019/20 Uganda Cup.

Kajjansi ended their Cup run at the round of 32 after eliminating Uganda Premier League run away leaders Vipers SC at the round of 64.

Kapeero is a CAF C License holder and will be tasked with trying to land Buwekula their first Masaza Cup.

Buwekula lost to Bulemeezi in the 2012 final, and that is the closest they have come to winning the title.

Kapeero is an experience fella in Ugandan football having been part of the Lweza FC technical team that led the club to the top flight in 2014.

He previously worked with the now defunct Lweza FC and was part of the technical team that led them to the top-flight league in 2014.

The Masaza Cup is expected to start in June despite the on-going Coronavirus in the country.

Bulemeezi are the holders of the competition having defeated Busiro 1-0 in last year’s final played at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Gomba are the record winners of the Masaza Cup having won it on four separate occasions (2004, 2009, 2014 and 2017).
