KAMPALA – Despite the on going Coronavirus that has put sport-world wide on a halt, the Bika Bya Buganda Football organizing committee is hopeful this year’s tournament will go on as planned.
The committee has already confirmed the venues at which matches will be played.
Mutessa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakissha, IUIU in Kabojja and Lubiri play grounds in Mengo are the four venues that are expected to be used.
With normal service interrupted by the COVID-19 Pandemic, the committee came up with an online registration procedure for Clans hoping to take part in this year’s tournament.
As of Wednesday, April 29, it has been confirmed that only 10 Clans have successfully registered.
Omusu, Mpeewo, Mamba Kakobooza, Ngo, Ekibe, Nkusu, Ffumbe, Nkejje, Nsenene, Nkima are the Clans who have undergone the process.
Many others are expected to take care of the registration procedure and ensure they are part of the oldest football tournament in Buganda.
Defending champions Mbogo are one of the high profile Clans yet to do the needful.
Mmamba Gabunga are the record holders of the title having won it 10 times.
The 2020 Bika Bya Buganda Football is expected to start in early August.
