Uganda Cup: Proline into last 8 as Kitara stuns Tooro United FC

Uganda Cup – Round of 16

-Kiboga Young 0-1 Proline FC
-Tooro United FC 1-2 Kitara

Holders Proline FC ensured the reach the last 8 of the 2020 Uganda Cup on Saturday.

The Lugogo based side scrapped to a slim 1-0 victory over Kiboga Young.

Veteran striker Diego Hamis Kizza scores the only goal of the game to ensure his side remain on course to a second cup triumph in as many years.

They are the defending champions of the competition having defeated Bright Stars on penalties in last year’s final.

Despite poor form in the league, Proline has already taken care of Katwe United and Admin FC before victory over Kiboga.

In Fortportal, Tooro United FC were dumped out of the competition.

Big League side Kitara FC handed as the upset of the round so far, coming from a goal down to win 2-1 away from home at the St. Paul National Seminary Grounds.

Yafesi Mubiru handed the hosts the lead but Maxwell Kamulari levelled before halftime.

Abigaba Patrick then netted a second for the visitors to turn the game on its head.

Tooro who are bottom of the Uganda Premier League then tried to go all out in search of a leveler but Kitara held on to seal thw victory.

Mark Twinamatsiko’s side now reaches the last 8 for the first time in their history and joins the likes of KCCA FC, Proline FC, Kyetume and Light SS in the quarter finals.

The Uganda Cup action resumes on Sunday with Kataka hosting Free Stars.
