Kyetume FC striker Robert Ssentongo has been named the Uganda Premier League (UPL) best player of the month of February.

The three-time former UPL scorer was crowned on Monday 16 at a ceremony held at Kati Kati Restaurant.

Ssentongo beat off competition from teammate Joel Mutakubwa and Busoga United FC playmaker David Bagoole.

The former URA FC and KCCA FC striker was in good form last month, scoring six goals in as many games.

He netted a brace in each of his side’s victories against Mbarara City FC and Onduparaka. Ssentongo also scored in the 1-0 defeat of Proline before adding another goal in the draw at home to URA FC.

On the same day, Busoga United FC’s tactician Abel Kikomeko was named the coach of the month of February.

Kikomeko led his side to four victories, a draw and a loss in his side’s six fixtures.

Kikomeko did fend off competition from SC Villa’s Edward Kaziba to win the gong.

“I expected this.” – what they said
