It was yet another win for Marseille last Friday as they beat Nîmes 3-2 in the south coast derby. André Villas-Boas’ men faced an in-form Nîmes side that had won four of their previous five games but rode the storm fantastically, coming back from 1-0 down to eventually take all three points despite a late charge from the opposition.

It was made all the better as Marseille had suffered a shock defeat to Nantes (1-3) the week before so the pressure was on les Olympiens to bounce back and that’s exactly what they did. Villas-Boas’ men currently sit eight points clear of Rennes in second and have managed to continue their form this year with eight wins in their twelve games so far in 2020.

At home they have been particularly impressive with their recent defeat to Nantes ending a run of twelve unbeaten games at the Vélodrome, nine of which were wins. Despite the loss to the Canaries, Marseille should be confident of getting back on form in front of their own fans although they will need to wary of their defence which has kept just two clean sheets in their last nine home matches.

Amiens had a massive chance last week to claim three points over relegation rivals Metz but ultimately they spurned the opportunity, losing 1-0 to les Grenats.

It really was a match they couldn’t afford to lose as they now sit five points adrift of Nîmes one place above them in 18th.

They are now on a run of twelve games without a win in all competitions with their last league win coming in November. They have played eleven games since the start of 2020 with six defeats and five draws coming in this time. Amiens have conceded 13 goals along the way with a rather tame eight put in at the other end.

Amiens have failed to score in four of their last six games. Marseille’s shock loss to Nantes last week ended their tremendous unbeaten run at home which had lasted twelve games but they’ll be eager to start a new streak here. Marseille have won four of their last five clashes with Amiens.
