Wakiso Giants FC came from a goal down to overcome Maroons FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Tuesday.

Vianne Sekajugo scored the winning goal a minute into additional time at the end of the mandatory 90 (minutes), latching onto a Karim Ndugwa pass.

The goal came four minutes after Tom Matsiko had levelled matters for the Purple Sharks after Ramadhan Shamari had brought down Sekajugo in the area.

Earlier, Maroons had taken the lead through David Ndihabwe five minutes after the hour mark.

Maroons would end the game with 10 men after goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo deliberately took out Sekajugo deep into additional time, prompting the referee to show him red.

In the aftermath of events, Sekajugo was rashed into hospital in a critical condition.

Rightly so, the former Onduparaka FC forward was named man of the match for his performance on the day.

This was Deo Sserwadda’s first game in charge of Wakiso and he writes history as the first coach to win his maiden game in charge of the Purple Sharks. Sserwadda replaced Livingstone Mbabazi at the helm last week.

The win sees Wakiso Giants maintain 9th spot on the standings with 28 points from 22 games.

For Maroons, they slump into 11th with 24 points.

In their next fixtures, Wakiso Giants host Kyetume FC on Saturday, a day after Maroons entertains Busoga United in Luzira.

The other games played on Tuesday

-Vipers SC 0-0 KCCA FC
-Police FC 1-2 Bright Stars FC
-Busoga United 3-0 URA FC
