Uganda Premier League
Express FC 1-2 URA FC
Mutessa II Stadium, Wankulukuku
Tuesday, 25-03-2020

Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa suffered his first league loss since taking charge at the start of the month as his side went down 2-1 to URA FC.

The Red Eagles who were unbeaten in three could not cope with a spirited URA FC side that have been in good form of late.

In the game that was played behind closed doors, Mikidad Ssenyonga and Anwar Ntege netted for the visitors while Frank Kalanda scored Express’s consolation goal.

Ssenyonga opened the scoring on 14 minutes, expertly curling home a Saidi Kyeyune corner.

Five minutes into the second half, substitute Ntege who had earlier replaced Daniel Isiagi headed in a Shafik Kagimu cross to double URA FC’s lead.

With 18 minutes to play, Kalanda poked home a Frank Ssenyondo pass to pull a goal back for Express.

However, they could not mount a serious search for an equalizer as URA FC held on to the victory.

After scoring the second, URA FC could have scored a third but Kyeyune saw his effort rattled the woodwork after bouncing off Express custodian Mathais Muwanga.

Express who were returning to Wankulukuku for the first time in the second round had two decent chances earlier in the game but could not capitalize.

Kalanda was left red-faced after his header was cleared off the line by by Benjamin Nyakojo while Eric Kambale some how failed to hit the target from inside the area.

The victory takes URA FC to 40 points but they remain 4th, level on points with third-placed SC Villa but with an inferior goal difference.

For Express, they remain 11th with 28 points from their first 23 games.
