Mbarara City FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo has come out to suggest that they will respect lowly FHL FC.

The two sides face off in the Uganda Cup round of 32 on Friday afternoon at Kakyeka Stadium.

“Every team that is still in the competition is there for a reason, said Ssenyondo.

“Whether they play in the top flight or lower division, they are very capable of winning a fixture at any given date.

“FHL may be several divisions below us (Mbarara) but they are here because they have been winning and yet to lose a game in the competition so we will respect them.

Ssenyondo has been integral to the Ankole Lions good run of form recently, one that has seen them reach the round of 32 and also climb up the Uganda Premier League.

Since he returned at the helm following the departure of Paul Nkata in November.

In the 10 games he has been in charge of, Mbarara has won 7, drawn 1 and lost just twice in all competitions.

One of those victories came in the 2-1 defeat of Kakira United in the Uganda Cup round of 64 last month.

Ssenynodo also noted that their priority is to go as further as possible in the cup.

“We have a chance of winning the Uganda Cup as long as we stay in the competition.

“At the moment, we want to ensure we go as far as possible and then see what happens late.”

Mbarara are currently on a four-game unbeaten run, winning three and drawing just one.

The draw came in a 0-0 result at home to Uganda Premier League leaders Vipers SC on January 28.

FHL reached the last 32 via a penalty shootout victory over Ndejje University following a 0-0 draw in 90 minutes.
