For the second time this season, Mbarara City FC have been cleared to use Kakyeka Stadium as their home ground.

This was confirmed on Wednesday through a letter sent to Mbarara City by the Uganda Premier League secretariat.

“The secretariat has received a letter from FUFA indicating that Kakyeka Stadium has since met the minimum requirements to host Uganda Premier League games, reads the letter.

“Accordingly, all Mbarara City FC home matches will now be hosted at Kakyeka Stadium-Mbarara.”

This is the second time Mbarara will be returning to Kakyeka after doing likewise in the first round.

Having initially hosted their games in Luzira, the Ankole Lions were cleared and allowed to play in Mbarara with four games to the end of the first round.

During that period, they drew with Bright Stars, defeated Onduparaka, Kyetume and KCCA FC.

However, the state of the playing pitch deteriorated and FUFA notified that Kakyeka would no longer be used.

Since then, Mbarara has played two games at the Bombo Barracks stadium, defeating Wakiso Giants and drawing with Vipers SC.

After getting the go-ahead to return to their home, Mbarara is expected to host Police FC at Kakyeka this Friday.
