Lille have won their last two matches and beat Angers when they last met in September. Angers are winless in their last five home games and conceded four to one of Ligue 1’s worst attacks in their most recent match at the Stade Raymond Kopa. Angers have scored just twice in their last four league games.

Christophe Galtier at Lille had been getting some stick for his team’s performances at the start of this year with some unconvincing wins and a few losses dampening the morale of the fans and the players. However, it looks as if they are getting back on track after their two recent wins. They managed to get the three points in a tricky away trip to Strasbourg before beating 3rd placed Rennes in midweek at home. Rennes have been scoring for fun recently so this was a big win for Lille, especially with them keeping the clean sheet in their 1-0 victory.

Lille will be the visitors for this one but this could hold them back here as they haven’t been flattering themselves with their performances on the road this campaign. Les Dogues currently sit 4th in Ligue 1 but 15th for away results with their victory last week just their second all season in the league. They have won five of their last ten away games in all competitions but six of these have been in the cups and Champions League with two of the victories coming against lower league opposition. However, these recent victories show progress and they’ll be eager to keep it going against le SCO.

Angers have hit a bit of a slump recently. They’ve never been a team famed for their defence but it has gone to a whole new level in the past few weeks. They’ve lost each of their last three matches with ten goals conceded along the way. They have also scored five in this time though, four coming in a crazy 4-5 loss to Rennes in the cup.

Outwith this wild cup match, Angerd have been relatively disappointing in the final third since the start of the year. They’ve scored just two goals in their last four league games and even failed to net in their last game against Monaco (0-1), a side that had leaked fifteen goals in the six matches prior.

Angers have also been quite poor at home recently with no wins in their last five in all competitions. Their last game at the Stade Raymond-Kopa was against Reims which they lost 4-1. This result was really quite a bad one, not just because of the loss but more because this tame Reims side scored almost a fifth of their total league goals so far in this one match.
