KAMPALA – Donald Rukare has been named the new chairman of National Council of Sports (NCS).
Rukare who is the current Swimming Federation President and also general secretary of the Uganda Olympic Committee, replaces the outgoing John Bosco Onyik whose two-year tenure started in 2018 and ended this year.
This was confirmed on Friday afternoon through a press statement released by the Minister of State for Sports, Obua Denis Hamson.
The statement also confirmed that only three board memebers were to retained while the rest have been replaced.
Zubair Galiwango, Agatha Namirembe and Cecili Anyakoit are the three members who have been retained on the board.
NCS, is a statutory organ whose establishment, status and powers are enshrined under The NCS Act of 1964, to among other things; Develop, Promote and Control sports activities in Uganda on behalf of Government, under the Ministry of Education and Sports.
