Busoga United FC made it two victories in as many games as they beat Maroons FC 1-0 on Friday.

Abby Kikomeko’s side who defeated URA FC 3-0 earlier this week, saw Paul Ssekulima strike the winning goal late in the contest.

The second half substitute who had only been on the pitch for eight minutes turned home Isima Mugulusi’s cross to net the winner on 86 minutes.

Ssekulima had replaced Ivan Wani on 78 minutes with the game seemingly heading for a scoreless draw.

Maroons who were hoping for a second victory in their last six games looked second best for huge spells in the game.

The players looked frustrated and in the end, Davis Mayanja, Ceaser Olega and Sylvester Okello were all booked.

Busoga United FC midfielder David Bagoole was named man of the match for his performance on the day.

The loss is Maroons’ 11th of the season and it sees them remain in 13th with 24 points from 23 games.

They are just two points away from the relegation zone and news coming from Luzira is that their head coach Douglas Bamweyana is expected to be relieved of his duties in the next few days.

Bamweyana joined Maroons at the start of the season and oversaw a brilliant start to the campaign that had them sit as high as third at some point.

However, the team is in poor form since late November and are looking ever increasingly destined for the drop.

For Busoga, victory ensures they consolidate 5th spot with 36 points from 23 games.

In their next fixtures, Busoga United hosts Wakiso Giants FC on Tuesday while Maroons are away to Vipers SC they following day.
