Uganda Cup: KCCA FC, URA progress to round of 32 as BUL FC is eliminated

Uganda Cup – Round of 64

The Uganda Cup continued on Friday with six games played in different parts of the country.

At Lugogo, 10-time winners KCCA FC defeated CITDA 2-0.

Debutant Moses Aliro grabbed the headlines with his first goal for the Kasasiros barely a week after signing.

The other goal was scored by John Revita who was also scoring his first competitive goal since joining Mike Mutebi’s side from Express FC last summer.

In Lugazi, URA FC thumped regional league outfit Lugazi Municipal at Mehta grounds.

Goals from Michael Birungi, Shafik Kagimu, Said Kyeyune and Cromwell Rwothomio were enough for the tax Collectors to seal a round of 32 spot.

In Soroti, it was Allan Oryek, Osman Mutumba and Hakim Ssekito’s brace that inspired Kansai Plascon to a 4-0 victory over Soroti FC.

The other Uganda Premier League side in action on Friday-BUL FC, were eliminated by Mvara Boys 4-2 on penalties following a one-all full-time draw in Arua.

Gabriel Matata scored for the home side before Richard Wandyaka tied the affair at 1-1 to force penalties.

BUL’s James Otim and defender Makuro missed their penaltys to ensure a shock exit for the visitors.

Ndejje University were also eliminated in the similar fashion by FHL FC following a barren draw at normal time. Ndejje lost 1-4 on penalties.

Elsewhere, Light SSS registered a 1-0 win over Fire Fire at the Kyambogo College grounds thanks.

Mark Opio was the day’s hero as he scored the only goal of the contest.

In the other games, Nyamityobora edged Chimpanzee FC 3-0 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in normal time while Free Stars defeated Big League debutants Saviours FC 2-0 in Mukono.

The round of 64 action will continue on Saturday with four games on the menu.

Proline are the defending champions of the competition having defeated Bright Stars FC on penalties in last year’s final.
