NJERU – The Uganda U17 Girls national team successfully completed day two of their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers, on Sunday, January 4th-2019.

Uganda will take on Ethiopia in the preliminary rounds of the global showpiece qualifiers.

The first leg will be played on Saturday, 11th January 2020 at a venue yet to be announced but highly expected to be StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.

The team that started training on Saturday went through two tactical sessions on Sunday, ones they completed without any major concerns.

“We have successfully trained today, noted head coach Ayub Khalifa on Sunday.

“We have put emphasis on tactical discipline and decision making in the final third.

“We have been looking at how to put away chances and score goals. We have limited time so we have to do a lot in this limited period.”

Also speaking after the morning session, U17 national team captain Juliet Nalukenge noted that the players are in good condition and will be gunning for qualification.

“I would like to thank the Federation for registering us in yet another competition, said Nalukenge.

“We the players are ready and will do all we can so as we reach the finals’ tournament.”

A squad of 30 players was announced on Thursday and started training on Saturday, 4th January-2019 at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

All the 30 players have so far been part of the training although the squad is expected to be trimmed before the end of next week.

It consists of a bunch of players who were part of both the COSAFA U17 Girls tournament and CECAFA U17 Girls Cup, two competitions that were won by Uganda back in 2019.

However, Khalifa and his technical team also summoned some new faces who include St. Noah striker Allen Nasaazi and teammate Kigongo Angella Auchi.
