WAKISO – Wakiso Giants FC registered their maiden victory under Livingstone Mbabazi on Sunday.

The Purple Sharks were without victory since Mbabazi took over but defeated Onduparaka FC 1-0 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakissha.

Forward Viane Sekajugo netted the only goal of the contest two minutes from the mandatory break.

The former Onduparaka player was quickest to react after Karim Ndugwa’s effort came off the post, to poke home what would later prove to be the winner.

Earlier, Wakiso’s day’s captain Hassan Ssenyonjo forced a save from Onduparaka custodian Yusuf Wasswa off a curling free kick.

Winger Emmanuel Mutebi then failed to connect neatly with an Ayub Kisalita cross.

Onduparaka too hand chances but could not capitalize.

Gadafi Wahab was denied by the pots from a free kick before Ezra Bida’s effort was saved by Derrick Emukule.

Julius Malingumu headed wide a Bida cross late in the contest as Onduparaka failed to restore purity.

Victory for Wakiso sees them move on to 23 points from 18 games. They now climb into 8th position on the log.

For Onduparaka, they are now 6th with 27 points.
