Steven Mukwala continued his fine run of scoring as he netted his 12th goal of the season on Saturday.

The striker who is on loan from Vipers SC scored one of Maroon FC’s two goals ad they defeated BUL FC 2-0 at the Luzira Prisons Stadium.

Fred Amakku scored the other on a day that the hosts registered their first win of the second round.

Douglas Bamweyana’s side had lost to Proline and drawn with Onduparaka in their opening two games.

Despite starting slowly, Amaku handed Maroons the lead on 25 minutes heading in from a corner kick after Abraham Tusubira’s effort was deflected.

Three minutes to the break, Mukwala converted from the spot dusting himself up after he was brought down in the area by Ramathan Dudu.

They had other chances to better the 2-0 score line but failed.

Emmanuel Olinga shot over after he was teed up by Mukwala befor Timothy Balanzeki blasted into the side net from a good position.

Bronson Nsubuga missed the easiest chance of the lot as he somehow failed to poke Mukwala’s layoff early in the second half.

BUL who have struggled in the second round of the season were second best on the day.

They however created a few chances to get back into the game ith Robert Mukongotya shooting wide of the target before Denis Okot blasted over.

Musa Esenu forced Maroons custodian Hannington Ssebwalunyo into a brilliant save in the second half while Richard Wandyake’s over-head kick went wide.

With frustration getting the better of thw visitors, Walter Ochola was given his marching orders for two bookings late in the contest.

Victory for Maroons sees them move to 8th on the standings with 22 points from 18 games.

For BUL, they drop into 5th with 29 points.
