Mbarara City FC returned to winning ways in their second game of the Uganda Premier League second-round.

The Ankole Lions who had lost 1-0 away to KCCA FC last week, defeated Wakiso Giants FC by the same score line.

It was a much needed victory for Brian Ssenyondo’s side and they will be hoping it inspires them on.

“We had to respond after losing to KCCA FC in the opening game, said Ssenyondo ahead of the game.

“It is good we responded with victory and a clean sheet and we will be desperate for more of the same on Saturday.

“We face a very good side which is in good form but i am optimistic we will get the job done in the end.”

Mbarara who endured an indifferent first round ar currently 8th on the log with 22 points.

For Busoga, they have been the surprise of the second round so far.

Having won just five game in the first round, Abby Kikomeko’s side have won all two of their fixtures in the second.

They took care of Express 2-0 last week before scrapping to a 1-0 victory away to record champions SC Villa on Tuesday.

They seem to be playing the best football of their season and will fancy their chances against Mbarara in Bombo.

Busoga are 7th on the log with 24 points from 17 games.

The other games on Saturday @4pm

-Express FC vs Proline FC
-Maroons FC vs BUL FC
-URA FC vs Bright Stars FC
