Vipers SC were held to a 0-0 draw by Mbarara City FC on Tuesday afternoon.

In what was Fred Kajoba’s first game in charge of the Venoms since replacing Edward Golola last weekend, the visitors looked a shadow of the side they ended the first round with a four point caution.

Kajoba employed a 3:4:3 formation but could not penetrate an organized Mbarara back line that was marshalled by captain Hilary Mukundane.

Despite dominating much of the possession, chance were few and far in between for the Venoms and not even Fahad Bayo or former Mbarara City FC star player Paul Mucureezi could score the elusive goal.

Kajoba and his technical team introduced Tito Okello, Frank Tumwesigye and Daniel Sserunkuma in place of Aziz Kayondo, Ahmed Amayo and Bayo respectively but they all could not inspire the three points.

The hostly contested encounter saw six yellow cards ditched out with Mbarara recieving four while Vipers got two.

Jasper Aheebwa, Pistis Balenge, Ibrahim Orit and Steven Othieno were all booked for the home side.

Paul Willa and Aziz Kayondo were the players who were shown yellow for the Venoms.

The result leaves Vipers SC top of the standings with 43 points from 19 games and now hold a two-point lead on second placed KCCA FC who defeated Kyetume FC 2-0 on the same day.

For Mbarara they stay 10th on the log with 22 points.
